Bands

Around Sounds aim to provide you with a top quality recording of your music at an affordable price. We work all types of bands and musical styles. Weather you have just formed your first band and want to record a demo of your new songs, or you might be an established band wanting to record album, we can arrange a complete recording solution for all of your needs. As we are a mobile studio we can record at any location you want, if you have not got a suitable place for the recording to take place, we will source one for you. Our studio uses the latest top of the range digital pro audio equipment, as found in most good modern recording studio. We run Pro Tools on the latest Apple Mac core 2 duo system, together with the best outboard gear and a range of microphones suited to each instrument.

Around sounds takes all the pressure away from recording. We do all the running around, and setting up.  All you will need to do is perform.

All our equipment has been assembled with mobility in mind, so set up time is minimum.

Around sounds can work around the space you have, wherever you want the recording to take place.  In cases where it is not possible to set the recording equipment up in a separate room to the band, we can run the cables to our sound proof van outside for better sound separation.

Whatever your needs we can provide a solution.

We offer hourly, daily and weekly rates for the studio, and we have many instruments available for hire.

 Our services

 Recording rehearsals

Around sounds can provide you with a recording of your rehearsal to enable you to hear your performance, or you can use the recording as a demo or live recording CD.  Recording your rehearsal has many benefits, and allows us to have complete control of microphone selection and positioning, we can do as many takes of the songs that are needed, and any amount of over-dubs can be added once you are happy with your performance.

Demo

A Demo recording is an essential tool for any band trying to get gigs and wanting to get their name about.

You may choose to record Bass, Drums and Rhythm Guitar in one take and then over dub other instruments and vocals, once you are happy with your performance, this is a very common way of recording and often give the recoding a nice warm live feel. You may prefer to record instruments one at a time until the track is complete. Whatever your needs we can work around your time and budget.

Single or Album recording

If you are wanting to record a single or an album but are on tight budget, Around Sounds can offer a solution without compromising quality

Once a suitable place has been found for the recording session to take place we can work around your needs, again you might want to put the rhythm section down in one take and overdub other instruments, or you could build the song track by track.

Once all the recording is finished, we recommend dedicating as much time as possible to mixing the tracks, to achieve the best possible finish to the tracks.

Other services.

We can produce pre-production demo’s for bands who may have a bigger budget, and want to get their ideas down before going to a more expensive recording studio to cut their album.

Many musicians like the sound of a curtain instrument being played in a curtain room, for instance you might like the drum sound in your local town hall, we can arrange to record them there, and then you can take these recordings to any studio of your choice, to record the rest of the instruments.

Albums with extras such as choirs, string or brass sections, grand pianos etc are often recorded on location; we can also provide this service.

Computer musicians are usually limited to two inputs (can only record two instruments at a time) so when it comes to recording things such as drums they would find our services useful.

Mixing

On the day we provide you with a rough mix of your recording.  Mixing the material of a multi-track audio can take anything from a day to a week.  We can either mix the recording ourselves, or you can choose to take the raw digital audios away on hard disk, enabling you to take the recording for mixing at a studio of your choice,

CD production

We can arrange to have your tracks mastered, and advise you where to have your cd's pressed.

Notes to consider

  • Make sure everyone knows the date of the recording session.

  • Choice of music. Always choose music you know and can play.

  • It’s very important you feel as comfortable as possible when recording your music.  Our aim is to try to make you feel as relaxed as possible; this is where recording in familiar surroundings is very important.  We will also provide free advice and contacts to promote your music.

  •  Noise levels.  For the best quality recording, it’s very important the location you choose to record doesn’t have surplus noise pollution such as traffic noise, etc.

  • Have drinks and snacks available, and work out a schedule incorporating regular breaks through out the day
